Official meeting of the Minister of Agriculture and the DG of the International Food and Agriculture Organization

FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva paid an official visit to Cyprus on October 5th, and had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Nikos Kougialis.
During the meeting, the two men discussed food security and anti-hunger issues, while they agreed that the Republic of Cyprus and the FAO will cooperate in the fields of farming, fish farming, water management and tackling the effects of climate change.
During his visit in Cyprus, the Director General was guided through the premises of the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI). The DG has been informed of the new innovative methods of cultivation and the pionneer work performed by ARI on genetic improvement in sheep and goats, as well as the AGRICYGEN overall idea and objectives.
